Review: Starboard by Ava Olsen (Voyagers #2)

5 stars

Hey folks! Let me tell you about Dylan - a Hollywood actor who's been through a lot and is now on a journey of recovery from alcoholism. He's ready to share his story with the world, and that's where Maxwell comes in.

Maxwell, an English professor, author, and ghostwriter, takes on the job of penning Dylan's tale. But he has his own battles to fight - like trying to ensure he doesn't lose custody of his lovely daughter Blake to his ex-husband.

As Dylan prepares for a big movie comeback after two years of sobriety, he and Max retreat to the privacy of Rowan's yacht to work on the book. Rowan is Dylan's best bud and his own story is actually the first book in the Voyagers series!

In this secluded space away from all the buzz, Dylan starts opening up about his life - including one big secret that he's bi. The process isn't always easy for him but Max is there with understanding and patience.

Surprisingly, our Hollywood star isn't as self-centered as Max had thought, and our professor isn't as uptight as Dylan had imagined. Their honesty and vulnerability with each other is genuinely touching.

The story has its serious moments but also lots of fun times sprinkled throughout. You'll even catch glimpses of Rowan and Andrew who are super supportive of our main duo.

All in all, it's a sweet tale with just enough spice and drama that leaves you satisfied yet wanting more. Can't wait for Rafe's story next!

P.S. I got this book for free via GRR but this review is all my own thoughts! What do you think? Have you read any good books lately?

Just a heads up, if you use the links below, I get a tiny bit of support through the Amazon Influencer program. It won't cost you any extra, just an awesome way to support my work here!
