Hey, bookworms! I've just had the absolute pleasure of diving into A Hired Blade, and let me tell ya, it's a wild ride! Got to see a different side of Des before the trilogy kicked off, and it was quite the treat. This novella is a little sneak peek into the brilliantly crafted Everlands Cycle series. The writing? Spot-on! It's intense and keeps you on your toes - I breezed through it in no time.
The storyline is simple enough to follow but has some cool twists thrown in for good measure. Our girl Des is introduced as this tough-as-nails sellsword who isn't afraid to stand her ground in a world run by men - love that about her! There's also this sapphic undercurrent running throughout the novella that adds just the right amount of spice (let's say 3 🌶️). I won't ruin the ending for you, but brace yourselves - it's a heartbreaker.
Can't wait to see what comes next in this series!
